In 2008/9 the Hall underwent a major face-lift with every part having some form of alteration or improvement. We are now proud to offer a Village Hall with a high degree of specification, space and comfort. Payment for the work was made from money received in Grants, Fund Raising, Donations and our own Monthly Lottery. In all, the complete figure spent during 2008 and 2009 was in excess of £47,000.
2010 saw steady growth in the Hall's usage and the Committee felt that the next stage was to concentrate on the outside area. This would make the whole place look more inviting and perhaps encourage people to put on outside events during the Summer.
At the beginning of 2011, we received quotes and a decision was made to ask Chris King to carry out work on the upkeep of the Village Hall grounds both inside and outside our boundaries. Chris has cleared the inside area of brambles and weeds which has made the car park a lot bigger. He has cut the front perimeter hedges, strimmed and cut all the outside grass and cleared the brambles from the area surrounding the inside grass. The Village Hall Committee has purchased a new mower and agreed a programme of grass cutting with Callum who will look after all the grass within our borders for the remainder of this season. Chris has undertaken to weed-kill where required and strim the outside grass four times during the year.
The overall improvement is there for all to see and the committee hopes that the effect is to make the Village Hall a much more attractive place than it has been recently.
